I passed this over the weekend. When you drive without thinking, especially in these conditions, and don't look ahead, this happens. It stays good until the end too!
Why in the hell did people get out? Especially on both sides of the highway? Why didn't people move off the highway that weren't in the harder hits? WHY DON'T PEOPLE SLOW DOWN AND LOOK AHEAD!?!?
I'll add some blame to the municipality for handling that storm absolutely horribly. It wasn't even a snow storm or blizzard, it was regular snow IMO.

It happens all the time, just today I read a story about someone in Calgary, Alberta who went into the ditch and when he got out to look at the damage another car hit him and he was killed. It always surprises me when people have a minor rear ending and they will just stop in that spot and exchange info. Pull over or turn off!!! People hate commuting and try to do it as fast as possible, and the results are seen in that video

I shouldn't have either, but because nobody got really badly hurt I don't think, I laughed at a lot of ti.

yup. Idiocy at its finest. It's a shame, really. I'm sure half the people who got out are nice people, and just weren't thinking. But still, it's really really dumb.

So much dumb in one video. Aaaaargh, stuff like this is so easily preventable.

True, I feel less awful now. If I can't trust myself to drive on the highway in those conditions then I feel I can't really trust anyone else. That said, I'm sure there are people who have no choice but to take the highway for their commute.

yeah, I actually decided on local roads on my way home specifically because of that pileup. Less chance of high speed, and if you get in a crash it's likely way less severe than some of the guys flying in that video.

yeah definitely. It's highly frustrating.
There were actually two pileups at the same time, so the 5 or so other minor accidents I saw on my way weren't going to be tended to at all.

I think most people just zone out when driving, and when something out the ordinary happens they are too far out of it to realize.

I admit to zoning out myself sometimes... But it surprises me how many people were absolutely useless in the video. lol

Rather than some dumb questions, the dmv should ask test takers what they'd do in these conditions. If the answer is dumb, the test is over and the person has to retake the test. I wish. There is so much wrong in that video it hurts my head!

Government makes too much money off of giving idiots their licenses though. They should be way more difficult to get.

Well, after a few near misses it seems everyone got the hint that standing on the side of an interstate covered in snow with cars swerving and crashing all around you is not the best idea. Who would have thought?
In my experiences, there are usually two types of drivers in the snow. People that drive so cautiously that they become a hazard and people who drive like they normally would despite the reduced visibility, traction, etc... I'm not really sure which is worse.

Yeah I agree, hard to tell who is the worst
